ABOUT BALANCED WITH JENNY

JENNY ROBERTSON Registered Holistic Nutritionist

SO WHAT IS A HOLISTIC NUTRITIONIST?

As a Holistic Nutritionist, I provide a whole person (body, mind and spirit) approach to health that is focused on natural, whole and nutrient-dense food. I consider the uniqueness and individuality of each person while working to identify the root cause of ailments, symptoms and imbalance. I work very closely with you to gain insight and knowledge about your main health concerns, your current  dietary and lifestyle habits, your current identified stress level and main factors that may be contributing to this level.  I recognize that "you" are the expert when it comes to your own body; I value your expertise in identifying your main concerns and your achievable goals to better health and wellbeing. I support you in identifying realistic goals and I provide each person with detailed information, recommendations and resources specific to their unique and individual needs. Nourishing our bodies with good quality, wholesome and nutrient dense foods doesn't mean that our menu is going to be filled with tasteless and boring foods!

do not diagnose, treat or prescribe medications for illness and disease but I do provide the education, resources and support required for you to see lasting positive results in your health and wellness.

I offer services remotely via telephone/Skype or in-person for residents of the Simcoe County and surrounding areas. I provide Nutrition assessments and consultlations , menu planning and preparation strategies, pantry reboots and grocery store tours, learning sessions, workshops and presentations with a focus on digestive health, stress management, healthy weight management and mental health. An emphasis is placed on natural, whole, nutrient-dense foods and the relationship to optimal health and wellness

Just as our planet strives for BALANCE to remain at it's healthiest so too does our body. Our body strives every day to maintain a state of homeostasis (or BALANCE); everything from our internal temperature to our blood sugar levels has an optimal range that allows our body to function at its best.  It is when our body is unable to maintain this state of BALANCE that we experience the negative outcomes to our health and wellness.

There are some things that each of us should be making a conscious effort to do that will promote BALANCE and support our overall health and wellness.

  • incorporating natural, whole and nutrient dense food items into our routin

  • purchasing local and inseason food items; becoming a more informed consumer and knowing more about the food items we are choosing

  • planning our meals and shopping lists and preparing food ahead of time to avoid the temptations that come with a busy schedule

  • paying attention to what our body is telling us and recognizing when a food item is not being well tolerated

  • Being kinder to ourselves and slowing down a bit; allowing ourselves to thoroughly enjoy our meals, managing stress and practicing good sleep hygiene

I believe that in order to ensure a well  BALANCED body  we need to have the tools and resources at our disposal that will allow us to make the best and most well informed choices to meet our unique and individual needs. And that's exactly what I do; I provide you with the information, the tools and the resources that will allow you to achieve your best BALANCED "YOU".

I think that each of us must become active participants in our own health and wellness; nutrition, lifestyle  and  spiritual needs must become of primary importance . Our bodies are AMAZING and when properly nourished and supported it definitely has the ability to keep us well BALANCED, healthy and active.

BALANCED HEALTHIER "YOU"

A LITTLE MORE ABOUT ME

For close to 25 years I have worked with people; supporting, facilitating and educating them through difficulties, challenges and illness. I have also helped them celebrate; celebrate a new skill, a new milestone, a new job or a new goal achievement. I believe that the support I provide should be as unique as each of us are; there is "no one size fits all approach". I draw heavily on my past education and experiences when/if your unique circumstances indicate this to be helpful; I have extensive education and 25 years of experience in the following speciality areas:  developmental disabilities, mental health (youth and adults), addictions and psycho-geriatrics (dementia, Alzheimers)

As a very young child my unique nutritional needs meant that my diet was very different then that of the rest of my family; my parents worked extremely hard to ensure that my unique needs were being met and that my body and health was being supported in the best way possible. My parents hard work and dedication to meeting my unique needs really made all the difference; it allowed my body to repair and rejuvenate. I currently incorporate many food items into my daily routine that my body previously was unable to digest, absorb or utilize; today my diet is really not that much different then that of the rest of my family.

I personally believe that we need to focus on our unique needs and that we need to take an active role in own health and wellness.
