A ripe avocado will stay good in the fridge for 4-5 days but if you bring home an unripe one leave it on the counter to ripen; if put in the fridge it will never ripen. When choosing your avocadoes try to choose one that is unblemished with no broken skin and that, when gently squeezed, it doesn’t “dent”.

They are a great source of protein (approximately 4 grams) making them the highest source of all of the fruits. They also have important phytochemicals like alpha-carotene and beta-carotene (among others).
When preparing them be sure to wash them well, cut them lengthwise and then separate the two halves; remove the pit and peel the skin off with a pairing knife. A handy tip to prevent them from browning is to sprinkle them with a little lemon juice after cutting.
