ALMONDS….PASS ME A HANDFUL OF “AWESOMENESS”

Almonds aren’t actually a nut but rather a seed and are used today in a variety of ways including:

  • As a great nutrient packed snack on its own or in a trail mix or snack bar. Organic Traditions carries some great tasting Raw Shelled Almonds.

  • As a nutrient packed addition to countless recipes including a few of my favourites that you can find here or here

A ½ cup of almonds will provide you with approximately 5 grams of protein, 5 grams of fibre and 7 grams of carbohydrates and they are packed full of Vitamin E, magnesium and phosphorus. They are also a good source of riboflavin, manganese, calcium and iron.

So as far as healthy snacking and cooking go…grab some almonds and reap the benefits, including:

  • Great supply of needed nutrients

  • Blood sugar regulation

  • Cardiovascular disease prevention (read more here about their effect on LDL-cholesterol)

  • Healthy brain function support

  • Prevention of overeating and weight loss support

  • Protection against free radical damage

  • Healthy bone maintenance

CANDIAN FEED THE CHILDREN

August 20, 2015

I am pleased to announce our commitment to Canadian Feed the Children, an organization dedicated to providing support to children and families in Canada as well as internationally in Bolivia, Ethiopia, Ghana and Uganda.

We have committed to donating a portion of our monthly sales to Canadian Feed the Children to help provide children and families in need with such things as increased access to nutritious food and quality education, and community support. Together we are creating a healthier and brighter future for children around the world.
